France Visa Appointment from Dubai: The Current UAE Process

UAE residents who need a short-stay visa for France currently submit their application through VFS Global in Abu Dhabi. This applies even if you live in Dubai or another northern emirate.

The current France-Visas UAE page says that applications are processed by the consular section in Abu Dhabi and submitted at the VFS Global centre there. Older guides that direct Dubai residents to a Dubai appointment may no longer describe the current process.

Check France-Visas again before you apply because centre arrangements can change.

Make sure France is the correct country

Apply for a French Schengen visa if France is:

• the only Schengen country on your trip;
• the country where you will spend the most time; or
• the first Schengen country you will enter when your stays are equal.

If another country is your main destination, apply to that country's competent authority. A French appointment is not a substitute for an unavailable appointment elsewhere.

Start on France-Visas

Use the official France-Visas assistant to identify the visa type and required documents. Complete the application form online.

After completing the form:

1. Review the passport and travel details.
2. Save the application reference.
3. Print the application form.
4. Print or save the supporting-document list.
5. Follow the official link to VFS Global to book the appointment.

Completing the online form does not submit the visa application. France-Visas states that you must bring the printed form and supporting documents to the physical appointment.

Book the VFS appointment in Abu Dhabi

The current France-Visas page lists the VFS Global centre at Level B2, The Mall at World Trade Center, Abu Dhabi. Use the address and opening hours shown on the official page when you plan the trip from Dubai.

Appointment waiting time varies with demand. If no date appears, confirm that you selected the right short-stay category and continue checking the official calendar. A notification service can report new availability, but it cannot reserve the date.

Prepare the document file

Use the personalised list produced by France-Visas. A tourism application commonly requires evidence in these areas:

• a valid passport;
• legal residence in the UAE;
• a completed and signed application form;
• a compliant photograph;
• travel medical insurance;
• transport and accommodation;
• the purpose and schedule of the trip;
• enough funds for the stay; and
• evidence that you will return to the UAE.

Keep dates consistent across the form, flight reservation, accommodation, insurance, employer letter, and itinerary. A booking that conflicts with the stated trip can raise questions even when each document looks valid on its own.

Do not submit false hotel or transport documents. The consular section may ask for more evidence.

Attend the appointment

Bring the appointment confirmation, printed application, current checklist, supporting documents, passport, and the accepted payment method. Arrive according to the instructions in the confirmation.

VFS Global collects the file and biometric data when required. The French consular authority examines the application and makes the decision.

Allow enough time

You may normally apply up to six months before travel. The European Commission says to lodge the application at least 15 days before departure. Start earlier because you first need an appointment and because an individual application may take longer than the normal decision period.

Do not treat a planned departure date as a guarantee that the consulate will decide by then.

Watch for outdated route information

Several older pages still describe a Dubai submission centre or different jurisdiction split. For current applications, use the live France-Visas UAE page as the controlling source.

When reading any guide, check:

• its last updated date;
• whether it links to France-Visas;
• whether it distinguishes short-stay and long-stay visas; and
• whether it names the current application centre.
